Pequins are very hot, small oval shaped chilies.
Native to Texas and Mexico, these peppers range in size from 1/2 to
3/4 inch long and 1/3 inch wide and can grow over 4 feet tall.
Pequins are green while maturing turning to a red or reddish-orange
color and red-brown to light-brown when dried. Occurring in
the wild, plants readily sprout from bird dropping producing fruit
more rounded in shape. Cultivated pequins tend to be more
elongated. Green pequins have the best flavor!
