Tropical tree-form plants with yellow
candle-shaped flowers. Easily propagated from seed, matures
quickly and will flower the first year. Grows 5 to 8 feet tall. Flowers in late
summer to fall. Plant in full sun and well-drained soil.
This plant is attractive to bees, ants, butterflies and birds.
It is drought-tolerant and suitable for xeriscaping. Leaves or
sap are used to treat fungal infections such as ringworm. They

anti-fungal properties, it is a common ingredient in soaps, shampoos
and lotions in the Philippines. The effectiveness of this plant
against skin diseases is confirmed by scientific studies. In Africa
the boiled leaves are used to treat high-blood pressure. In
South America, besides skin diseases, it is also used to treat a
wide range of ailments from stomach problems, fever, asthma to snake
bite! Candle tree bushes make a wonderful addition to any
